Project Aims

The CRAB project aims to use the awareness campaign to:

  • reduce the proportion of patients suffering from so-called advanced multiple myeloma (stage III according to Durie and Salmon), from current 70% to less than 50% of all patients
  • reduce the proportion of patients suffering from serious complications at the time of diagnosis, from current 20% to less than 10%
  • increase the level of awareness among the physicians about multiple myeloma

(The project methodology allows exact measurement of the percentage difference between the following years: year 0 /i. e. 2007/ at the onset of the project, year 3 /i. e. 2010/ in the middle of the project and year 6 /i. e. 2013/ at the end of the project.)
